Let me tell you that in kids soccer drills, there are certain blunders that coaches make which reduce their teams to rubble and bring it down. And it’s absolutely right. Lot of people must be busy finding out the big reason responsible for a team’s such great downfall. Well, let it be known that there are many.
With respect to soccer drills for kids, you’ve got to act very cautiously and tactfully. You need to understand the psychology of the kids. Exchange words with them discussing things from their point of view. But sadly, most coaches are not ready to adapt to this. They simply close their eyes to the dissimilarity between teaching adult players and kids.
Here you go; main errors that coaches make that result in a team’s downfall.
1. Several coaches don’t take their jobs seriously. They are not punctual, fail to organize the drills, and don’t think it’s important to plan the sessions. These qualities are not just unacceptable and also upset the kids. Just like the kids, you too should get serious about soccer. Make arrangements for youth soccer drills beforehand. Any equipment required to execute the drills should be assembled in advance.
Don’t be late. Do not come to the field after kids. Well in fact, grace the filed with your presence when kids reach. What you get here is the additional time to run through the drills or plan out things.
2. Before the sessions, when the coaches impart instructions for kids soccer drills, they get so lost in it so as to loose track of the time. Have you ever considered how bad that can be? Understand that kids come to play soccer, not to hear your long lectures. Keep your words of wisdom brief and straight forward. Use these sessions in a way that the kids get inspired to play and enjoy the game.
It is crucial that you do not interrupt the kids when they are playing. If the kids do anything incorrectly, make a note of it and share it afterwards. And stand outside the field when the kids are playing.
3. Some coaches get ruthless and unkind while dealing with the kids. In soccer drills for youth, both the traits are self-destructive. It is bad to display weak behaviour on the soccer field. It is imperative that the kids will make mistakes. Remember, they are just kids. You should not take it seriously and get offensive with the players.
When this happens, you are making the kids loose interest and also making things difficult for yourself. Soccer is a game of the mind. Make the kids realize this and you would have motivated them.
